mondofragilis group principals
mondofragilis group companies, affiliates and subsidiaries are led by a team of passionate partners and principals. The senior partner's start date was 1977 (note that the first group company was founded in 1948). Fortunately, younger talent is joining the team keeping us fresh and up to date.
President
Cemil Giray Alyanak
Giray, has been analysing and producing media output since 1977. In 1995 he analysed and helped reposition the International Herald Tribune. In 1996 he did as much with the International Organization for Migration. More recently, he helped produce UN-HABITAT's Medium Term Strategic and Institutional Plan. He has written An Overview of Communications and Perception Analysis and The Manual of Communications and Perception .
Beyond analysis and strategy, Giray is also passionate about the production side of the business. He is a very hands-on executive. Indeed, Giray often takes on the role of executive producer, overseeing the production of film projects such as Women are... , Cancer is... , and major campaigns such as the World AIDS Campaign. He is also an accomplished photographer with shoots in Chechnya during the war, the Canadian Arctic, the Sahara, Tajikistan, Albania, Uganda and several dozen other countries. His work is featured on mondolibrary.
Giray's key function within the group is to ensure that quality systems are developed and implemented. Above all, in years to come, his goal is to provide increasingly efficient output, at a competitive price and delivered on time. Among his key achievements in the group is the oversight of the group's own management, quality control and client communications application known as MAMA (mondofragilis application for management and administration). He is also the inspiration for the group's workflow processes that ensure the entire staff, across all companies and fields of expertise, know exactly what to do when to ensure constant throughput; in short, his job is to make sure the system works!
It has also been Giray's privilege to be called upon to moderate panel discussions and interviews with Presidents, Nobel Laureates, Ministers, Secretary Generals and other high dignitaries.
Beyond core services, Giray is also the President of Causing Change, a mondofragilis group company dedicated to producing media about agents of change.
He is married with two daughters.
Executive vice-president
Richard Petit
Richard was born into the printing and communications business. His father was a renowned printer. Indeed, when Richard took over the company, Imprimerie des Arts Graphiques, his job was not so much to grow the company, but to keep it on top.
Fortunately, Richard, and his wife Delphine, have been successful at it. Their firm, created by his father in 1948, has consistently satisfied a broad range of clients all over Europe.
Of course, mondofragilis was thrilled when Richard accepted to merge IAG with the mondofragilis group and rebaptise it into 'natura print'. Richard is now the group's Executive vice-president and chief operations officer. His role is to second Giray in general and to lead all operational activities including all production aspects of otjiwarango consulting, messaggio studios and natura print. All vice-presidents, directors and department heads report to him. Ultimately, if your job is well done, it's thanks to Richard's rigourous management. Similarly, if there is a problem, you now know whose phone to call.
Vice-president, finance & administration
Delphine Petit
Delphine is consummately customer-centric. Her friendly tone and consistent desire to satisfy the most demanding requests is legend. But Delphine's value obviously goes far beyond her customer skills. Delphine has over twenty years of communications experience. As partner and shareholder of Imprimerie des Arts Grahiques, Delphine developed a high-level understanding of the entire printing and communications process. Ask Delphine to produce a printing plate and she can. Ask her to manage the campaign, she'll do so just as well. Delphine is also a big picture person. Her ability to understand complete workflows makes her an exceptional, large project manager.
Delphine is now kept busy managing our finance and administration as well as taking care of her closely knit five member household and fuelling her athletic drive by regularly participating in mountain runs and marathons. Delphine is also the lead in our MAMA project — mondofragilis administration and management application — which will, we hope, greatly improve our customer relations and internal efficiency.
Director, otjiwarongo consulting
Céline Guérin
In keeping with mondofragilis tradition, Céline is highly qualified. She brings a high degree of expertise that helps clients go beyond their initial expectation. Indeed, with her CV, to say she understands communications is an understatement. Céline clearly injects a high degree of guidance.
Céline graduated from several prestigious French institutions including Hypokhâgne et khâgne, École de journalisme CELSA and the Sorbonne. She worked as a journalist for 3 years including with Europe 1. Prior to joining mondofragilis group in 2008, she was the press relations officer for a major French resort.
Céline is the director of otjiwarongo consulting and its senior analyst. Working under the guidance of the group's master analyst Giray, Céline leads the group's intellectual offering covering all analysis and strategy services as well as visibility, fundraising and other consulting services.
Céline has French, but also Italian origins and speaks English fluently.
(Please note that Céline is on maternity leave between 03/2010 and 12/2010. She will be back 01/2011).
Client relations
Jeanine Catalan
Take someone who has lived and worked in Haiti and Chad, add to that real estate sales experience and computer-aided design courses and you have someone who management felt would be the perfect candidate to become a client relations specialist in the international public interest arena. Yes, we know it's an atypical deduction, but our instincts have proven to be right.
Jeanine is likely one of the first mondofragilis group people you will hear from or meet. Her job is to meet new prospects, present our group and interest them in becoming mondofragilis group clients. As such, Jeanine represents otjiwarongo consulting, messaggio studios, natura print and causing change.
Jeanine is fluent in both French and English.
Group creative director
Franck Vasserot
Formerly a senior art director, Franck is now our group creative director in charge of all creative output. His ability to provide consistently successful art puts mondofragilis group, and messaggio studios in particular, in the higher bracket of creative agencies.
What likely makes Franck such a management asset is his many years as a hands-on artist. His broad skill set includes illustration, painting, design, graphics and photography direction. Franck was also the art director on a 3D animation series that aired on Disney / SuperRTL.
But Franck brings much more than just 'art' to his position. He understands the issues and the messages needed to make those issues poignant. Indeed, Franck is part of the campaign and concept development team right from the outset; as soon as a major project lands in the group, Franck participates in discussions.
Franck's current goal is to bring in additional talent with a broader cultural base and increasing our current staff's capacity through ongoing education.
Head, printing
Séverine Carlier
Séverine was not born in a printing facility but if you didn't know it you would think she was. Séverine has worked in practically every position. She can work the press, produce plates and films. She even knows how to develop old style films. Before joining us, she actually worked in a Kodak facility. Let's say that if anyone was sick anywhere in the shop, Séverine could fill in.
Séverine manages natura print and oversees all aspects of the group's printing operation.
Did we mention that she also loves to paint? Séverine is an accomplished abstract painter.
Studio director, Europe
Florence Castaing
Youth and creativity are an optimal mix. Add to that some very muscular learning and you have Florence.
Florence has, indeed, studied and excelled in some very prestigious art schools. She completed a five-year creative arts programme, a two-year photography programme, a one-year applied arts programme in architecture, fashion, graphics, industrial design and art history and finally a two-year visual communications course at the École supérieure de Condé in Lyon.
Florence joined the team in 2004 as an art director. She is now our studio director reporting directly to our group creative director.
In the few years she has been with us, it is obvious to the team and clients that behind a very discreet facade lies a highly talented and motivated artist.
Flow manager
Céline Guirao
Céline Guirao is our 'flow manager'. Her role is to coordinate all production activities and tasks within the group. As the organization has grown so too have our needs to have someone be the 'air traffic controller'.
Céline reports directly to our executive vice-president Richard Petit. She does, however, work closely with all mondofragilis group executives and production staff in all mondofragilis group companies. Céline also works closely with Romain Petit, our head of web services, to further develop MAMA (mondofragilis application for management and administration). She also works closely with group president Giray to further streamline our workflow processes.
Céline has extensive communications skills having worked for major corporations including Accenture, Lagardere Active and SFR. Céline is also an accomplished and avid gymnast and all around athlete. We hope to tap into her skills and enthusiasm as the group continues to improve both its external services and its internal ethos of staff well being.
Office manager
Véronique Peytavin
Véronique loves math. Yes she does. But she also loves motorcycles; go figure.
Anyway, good thing she likes math because Véronique is the group's office manager and head of accounting. As such, she is responsible for both accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Véronique is a native of the French Alps and has — to our great pleasure — been with the company for many years. The added value of corporate memory is high.
Assistant to the President
Jessica Mardell
Assisting anyone is not an easy task; assisting our group president is? The only person who can answer that truthfully is Jessica whose mission is clear, to keep our senior officer working efficiently.
Jessica comes from a very untraditional background compared to the rest of the team. She is neither a communications expert nor does she hail from civil society or the United Nations. Instead, Jessica, who obtained her Masters in French and Linguistics at Edinburgh University, is actually a former teacher. Indeed, we are sure that it is her infinite patience that allows her to work so well with her boss and the rest of the team.
Account executive
Aurélie Lavorel
Aurélie brings an exciting mix of youth and experience. Aurélie holds a double Masters in communications and international business development confirming the group’s ongoing effort to hire highly motivated and qualified account executives.
As for the technical side of the business, Aurélie has been working in a production environment for three years; media relations, printing, audio-visual, web design… that’s where her interests and competence lie.
As account executive, Aurélie is the main port of call for her assigned group of existing clients and is responsible for the management of their projects. She works closely with the rest of the accounts team, taking good care of all our customers.
Aurélie hails from the Alps.
Account executive
Céline Longerey
Céline Longerey is a traveller, actually more of an adventurer. She has set foot on all continents and has always done so in search of the fundamentals.
Indeed, Céline is fascinated by intercultural issues which is probably why she studied international relations prior to obtaining her Masters in international business. Now, with all those kilometers walked, she has come back to her native Annecy to join mondofragilis group as account executive.
As you can imagine, Céline speaks both fluent French and English as well as Spanish.
Head, audio-visual
Raphael Marino
Raphael began working by our side in 1999 as a video specialist. After a short sabbatical doing some personal production work, Raphael is back among us and this time as head of the messaggio studios audio-visual unit. We are fortunate and happy to have Raphael back among us as he brings a very broad range of expertise back to the group. His skills are broad including all aspects of film making, motion graphics and animation. Indeed, Raphael has worked on major broadcast productions both in France and abroad.
Head, web services
Romain Petit
Romain is the group's head of web services. As web providers we had a choice to stay simple, providing basic websites that looked good and worked well or going the extra distance and providing state of the art programming options including complex database interfacing. We chose the latter and hired Romain to head messaggio studios' web services division because he is just that, a top flight programmer.
The programming unit is responsible for providing the advanced functionalities that our clients demand most ranging from management functions to exclusively communications-oriented ones.
Of note, Romain hails from a generation of youth who are mostly self-taught in programming and yet excel even in the most formal engineering environments. This said, Romain does have a degree in programming and continues to hone his skills.
Romain works closely with the creative team in messaggio studios to ensure our web sites have the highest possible appeal.
Director, mondofragilis américa latina
Michael Kramer
Born and raised in Germany, Michael thrives on working in an international environment. The inclusion of intercultural elements in his work nourishes his passion for communications.
While still in Europe, Michael worked as a communications consultant for the European Centre for Conflict Prevention. He also supported communication activities of UNAIDS and the German AIDS foundation.
After having received his Master in International Communication Management in the Netherlands, he settled over to Brazil from where he's now managing mondofragilis américa latina.
