Special events can successfully promote a cause, solicit funds or raise visibility. They can be self financed or sponsored.

Some countries are more accustomed than others to the use of special events to promote institutional visibility. Generally, we associate the United States with major visibility events either for fundraising or rallying people to a cause. Most European countries have seen their fair share of street protests. Telethons are among the fundraising tools used widely.

Whether to raise funds, advocate, show frustration or make demands, special events can be a viable campaign ingredient. This is especially valid for events that are easily sponsored or financially self sustaining. otjiwarongo consulting, supported by messaggio studios and natura print, have extensive event experience dating back to 1982. Most notable was the 15-year run of the mondofragilis Halloween Treasure Hunt that raised money and supplies for charities world-wide including for a World Health Organisation staff association supported orphanage in India. Case study

Basel Convention

The Basel Convention was about to celebrate its 20th anniversary. The problem was time, There was very little of it to organise a major event in Basel to mark the moment. Our solution was to produce a centerpiece: a filmed television panel that would discuss major waste issues. To do it we would need a moderator (for which our group president was requisitioned) as well as all the equipment (which messaggio studios provided). The material was then pooled for television broadcast. The event further included speeches, the launch of the Basel Waste Solutions Circle and a buffet. The entire event took place in the impressive parliament hall of the Basel Rathaus.

The company was the result of a merger between the mondofragilis network studios and those of natura print in 2005. It brought together two creative teams with highly complementary skills.
